EDMONTON, AB – December 3, 2020 –  Riva is proud to announce that it has achieved SOC 2 compliance for the second year in a row. SOC 2 attestation isn’t a “one and done” achievement. To maintain compliance with these standards, companies must repeat the process annually.

As a leading data ops provider for security-focused industries like finance, healthcare, and government, we make it our duty to follow stringent safeguards to provide the peace of mind our clients need.

SOC 2 was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). It’s widely recognized as the gold standard of a company’s ability to handle and secure confidential data. It ensures a company’s information security measures are in line with today’s specific cloud requirements.

The process to receive SOC 2 attestation is rigorous and takes many months because it evaluates a company’s data controls over an extended period of time. It’s a deep dive into our solutions and our people, policy, and processes.

“Getting confirmation that we are in compliance with SOC 2 each year is just another way that we demonstrate to our clients that security, privacy, and regulatory compliance are built into Riva’s DNA,” said Stéphane Zanoni, Riva’s CTO.

Riva’s SOC 2 attestation adds another layer of confidence to its already secure offerings for enterprise customers.

About SOC 2 Designation

SOC 2 was created by the American Institute of CPAs to ensure the security, privacy, and confidentiality of customer data. SOC 2’s audit framework is a baseline that ensures service providers adhere to the proper handling, processing, and management of customer data. SOC 2 attestation is based on five trust service principles that companies must meet to be considered to achieve the designation. These five principles are Privacy, Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, and Confidentiality.

SOC 2 designation is issued by outside auditors who assess how well a company complies with the five trust principles based on systems and controls.
