This is the third consecutive year Riva has received this award from Canada’s Top Employers—the largest Canadian competition highlighting organizations that exemplify forward-thinking workplace policies and exceptional human resources programs. This follows Riva’s recent recognition as one of Alberta’s Top Employers, an award they have now received for four years in a row.

The selection criteria for Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers considers various elements such as the physical workspace, the overall culture, employee benefits, programs for staff, employee engagement, learning and growth opportunities, community participation, and more.

Work Atmosphere & Communications: Riva hosts a company-wide event every year at their headquarters. Staff are flown in from around the world to convene in Edmonton for engaging keynotes, workshops, team dinners, and local events. 

Community Involvement: Riva empowers their employees to choose where they volunteer, with many devoting their time to local food banks and organizations like Meals on Wheels, Kids Kottage, WIN House, and Zoe’s Animal Rescue. Rather than using personal time, employees use dedicated volunteer hours which are renewed on a recurring basis. 

Training & Development: One of Riva’s key cultural pillars is to “improve daily,” which encourages team members to grow both personally and professionally. Riva supports employee development with programs including tuition subsidies, paid internships, formal mentoring, and other training initiatives.
